Remarkable, rare and exciting finds from the First and Second Temple periods are being uncovered in excavations conducted this summer by the Israel Antiquities Authority in the region of Nahal Tut and in the City of David in Jerusalem.
Among the finds is a tiny stone seal bearing the Early Hebrew inscription: “Lmkakh (ben) Amihai”, and remains of the monumental Shiloah pool mentioned in the Book of Nehemiah, dating to the First Temple period.
The work of the Israel Antiquities Authority is both universal in preserving the heritage of all humankind and the historic record of human culture in the world of Israel, and at the same time uniquely meaningful to the Jewish people and the State of Israel. We hope that you will have an opportunity to visit these new excavations when you are next in Israel.
